Arvixe LogoArvixe was founded in 2003. They are based out of San Luis Obispo, California. Currently, Arvixe has 150,000+ domains and 70,000+ hosting accounts. Also, they have had 80 employees. They were founded by Arvand Sabetian. They were bought by Endurance International Group (EIG) in October of 2014. They own a lots of host like Hostgator, BlueHost, A Small Orange, and JustHost.

Their datacenters are in the United States (Dallas). They have one in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

My Arvixe review will show you their features. Then, I look at their performance. Next, I will look at their uptime. Then, I discuss their customer support. Lastly, I write a summary.

Arvixe Features

Arvixe has lots of plans. Eight shared. 4 Reseller. 4 VPS. 3 Cloud. Eight dedicated. They support both Linux and Windows.

Shared Plans

Linux

These two plans are under “PersonalClass.”

  • PersonalClass. $4.00/month. Supports 6 sites.
  • PersonalClass Pro. $7.00/month.

These two plans are under “BusinessClass.”

  • BusinessClass. $22.00/month. Supports six sites.
  • BusinessClass Pro. $35.00/month. Unlimited sites.

Windows

These two plans are under “PersonalClass.”

  • PersonalClass. $5.00/month. Supports one site.
  • PersonalClass Pro. $8.00/month. Supports 5 sites.

These two plans are under “BusinessClass.”

  • BusinessClass. $27.00/month. Supports ten sites.
  • BusinessClass Pro. $40.00/month. Unlimited sites.

Unlimited Hosting Explained

Notice how most of the shared plans use the words “unlimited”. This is a marketing gimmick. Unlimited shared plans don’t exist. It is not possible. I cut and pasted this from their TOS page :

Bandwidth and Disk Usage: Customer agrees that bandwidth and disk usage shall not exceed the number of megabytes per month for the Services ordered by Customer on the Order Form. Arvixe will monitor Customer’s bandwidth and disk usage. Arvixe shall have the right to take corrective action if Customer’s bandwidth or disk usage exceeds the Agreed Usage. Such corrective action may include the assessment of additional charges, disconnection or discontinuance of any and all Services, or termination of this Agreement, which actions may be taken is in Arvixe sole and absolute discretion. If Arvixe takes any corrective action under this section, Customer shall not be entitled to a refund of any fees paid in advance prior to such action. Using a shared account as a backup/storage device is not permitted. Do not keep backups on the server of your websites or installation scripts.

Therefore, I do not know how much storage or many resources you can use. It is just up to Arvixe.

Reseller

Linux

  • ResellerClass. $20.00/month. Unlimited accounts. 50 GB of storage. 500 GB of monthly transfer. Free SSL certificate (for life).
  • ResellerClass Pro. $50.00/month. Unlimited accounts. 200 GB of storage. 2000 GB of monthly transfer. Free SSL certificate (for life).

Windows

  • ResellerClass. $25.00/month. Unlimited accounts. 50 GB of storage. 500 GB of monthly transfer. Free SSL certificate (for life).
  • ResellerClass Pro. $60.00/month. Unlimited accounts. 200 GB of storage. 2000 GB of monthly transfer. Free SSL certificate (for life).

  • VPSClass. $40.00/month. Fully managed server. 50 GB of disk space. Unlimited transfer. 1.5 GB of RAM. 4 CPU cores. 2 IP Addresses.
  • VPSClass Pro. $70.00/month. Fully managed server. 100 GB of disk space. Unlimited transfer. 3 GB of RAM. 8 CPU cores. 2 IP Addresses.

Windows

  • VPSClass. $60.00/month. Fully managed server. 50 GB of disk space. Unlimited transfer. 2 GB of RAM. 4 CPU cores. 2 IP Addresses. WebSitePanel Control Panel.
  • VPSClass ASP. $100.00/month. Fully managed. 100 GB of disk space. Unlimited transfer. 4 GB of RAM. 8 CPU cores. 2 IP Addresses. WebSitePanel Control Panel.

Cloud Hosting

Arvixe offers three cloud plans.

  • Basic. $108/month. 150 GB (disk space). 4 GB RAM. 8 CPU cores.
  • Pro. $129/month. 200 GB (disk space). 6 GB RAM. 12 CPU cores.
  • Premium. $149/month. 300 GB (disk space). 8 GB RAM. 16 CPU cores.

These plans do come with unlimited transfer. Also, Windows or Linux. CentOS 6.5 or Windows 2012 R2.

Dedicated Plans

Arvixe does offer eight dedicated plans.

Single Core Plans:

  • Xeon E3-1220 V2 3.1GHz, Turbo 3.5 GHz. 4GB RAM. 128 GB SSD in Raid-1 (disk space). $128.70/mo.

Transfers

Domain Names

Arvixe does give you a free domain name. This is for life. It is not just your first year. The domain is the property of Arvixe. Also, you have to host it with them. Cancel your account and pay $9.95/year.

Money-back Guarantee

The industry average is 30 days. Arvixe does double that. Their guarantee is for 60 days. This is better than SiteGround (30 days), GoDaddy (30 days), and iPage (30 days). If you account gets terminated the guarantee is voided.

Arvixe Uptime & Performance

Uptime

Arvixe does have a 99.99% uptime policy. They have a status page on their site.  The status page will show you if there are any known problems on their servers. Also, have a 100% uptime guarantee for dedicated servers.

They will credit your account. Here is how it works. The Percentage of downtime multiplied by the amount paid for that month. Arvixe will credit your account after three days.

However, my research shows HostingFacts.com had 99.38% uptime in 3 months. This is one of the worst they have tested. Also, various hosting review sites have negative reviews about uptime issues.

Performance

Arvixe uses 15K KPM RAID 10 drives for shared, VPS, and reseller plans.  RAID means they pair hard drives together. They help improve performance and redundancy. Here is an interesting article on PCword.com about RAID drives.

SSD hard drives are available for dedicated and cloud plans only. Arvixe does not offer SSD for a lot of their plans. Other host like InterServer and HostingSource offer this on shared plans. Therefore, I wish they would. This is the way the hosting industry has been going for years. They are much faster.

Research shows they are slower than others. HostingFacts.com tested them for speed. Arvixe shared servers responded in 1030ms. That is slow! Also, many other hosting review sites have reviews about slow performance.

Arvixe Customer Support

Arvixe does have 24/7 customer support. Can contact them through live chat, phone, and a ticketing system.

Their team is very proactive and has a forum. Answers lots of their customers questions with their service. They also have a knowledgebase.  This covers anything from domains, mail, SSL, cPanel, Plesk, etc.

Also, Arvixe is very proactive on Twitter and Facebook. They regularly inform their clients with updates.

Arvixe also has “Priority Support.” $20/month and you can speed up your responses. Also, it has a higher tier of support.

Research shows that you could have issues with support though. WhoIsHostingThis.com has lots of complaints about support. So does WebHostingGeeks.com. HostingFacts.com has said customer support is very slow at responding. There are a lot of articles online about their poor support.

Arvixe Hosting Reviews Summary

Do I recommended Arvixe? No. I am not a fan of EIG owned companies. This does not mean Arvixe is horrible. But, not a lot of user reviews have good things to say about them. Shared plans can be bought monthly but are almost double the price. VPS plans are in the higher price range. Uptime could be trouble. Speed could also be a problem. Support is 24/7. Sometimes they do not reply that fast. Have to pay $20/month for “Priority Support”. There are much better hosts on the market.

Looking for a much better host, you do have options.  Read my InMotion Hosting reviews and Glowhost reviews. Both of these companies are much better than Arvixe.
