Citrex Hosting has been part of the web hosting industry since 2003. Citrex Hosting is widely known for their many web hosting options, affordable prices and total value. But, what are webmasters saying about their experience with them?
Cirtex is now HostNine.
Citrex Hosting offers shared and reseller hosting,business servers. Other than these, they have more options available for personal and business websites. They appeal to a lot of webmasters because of their cheap price tag. Whenever I review a web hosting company I like to look at the whole picture. What features do they offer? Are their servers up and are they speedy? Also, what is their customer support like? Lastly, I will factor in their price and provide a rating system on how I rate them on all these key areas. However, as my Citrex hosting review shows I do not recommend you host with them.
Cirtex Hosting Features
Cirtex Hosting offers a number of affordable web hosting plans. Well, from a glance that is. Once you get into the plans you’ll see they are not quite so appealing. Theoretically, they have everything you will need to start a website and maintain one. A lot of people find them appealing because of their price tag. Cirtex offers shared, reseller, and business class web hosting plans.
Shared Plans
From a glance their prices for shared hosting look amazing. They are all showing the prices if you pay 3 years in advanced though. It’s kind of misleading!
Basic
What is not to love about web hosting for $2.49/month! This is only if you pay 3 years in advance otherwise it’s $2.99/month if you pay for 2 years, $4.99/month if you pay for a 1 year, and $5.99 if you pay six months in advance.
Advanced
A step up from the “basic” plan is the advanced. Once again it states it’s only $6.99/month, but that is if you pay 3 years in advance. If you pay 2 years in advance its $7.99/month, while 1 year in advance is $8.99, if you pay 6 months in advanced it’s 9.99/month, and if you pay 3 months in advanced it’s 10.99/month.
Professional
The next level up is Professional. If you pay 3 years in advance it’s $11.99/month, if you pay 2 years in advance it’s 12.99/month, 1 month in advance is 13.99/month, 6 months in advanced is $14.99/month, 3 months in advanced is $15.99/month, and lastly if you pay monthly its $16.99/month.
Have I lost you yet on the prices? Just remember your going to be paying a lot more if you don’t pay it all upfront for 1,2, and 3 years. However, for their month by month professional plan you could almost get a reseller plan from InMotion and have money left over? Why so high on the shared package with Cirtex Hosting?

For reseller hosting Cirtex offers 3 different plans. These are great if you have a number of clients and want to buy a reseller plan to allocate your server to your different clients. The prices are as follows:

$22.99/month – 1 year in advance.
$23.99/month – 6 months in advance.
$24.99/month – 3 months in advance.

With Cirtex Hosting I was a little confused on what there business plan was. I originally thought it was a VPS plan. But, after talking to customer support they told me they me they are similar to shared hosting, but later told me they are dedicated servers? Domain Names
For domain names you can see they are quite high. There are no free transfers ($10) and domain names cost $15-45 a year. This is the highest prices I have seen by far!
Now that we know the prices and features they offer let’s take a look at reliability, uptime and customer service.
Citrex Hosting Performance
Uptime
Citrex Hosting guarantees clients both 99.9% uptime. As far as uptime is concerned with Cirtex they are up and down with different webmasters. Meaning you could have very little downtime or you could possibly have lots of downtime. It’s a little to unstable to say they are trustworthy. I have worked on a couple sites that were hosted with them and for the most part I didn’t experience any extended downtime. However, other webmasters are stating that they have received a considerable amount of downtime. Please see the screenshots down below:
Performance
Cirtex Hosting is questionable at best with performance. Lots of webmasters have stated that they run insanely slow and have lots of bugs to iron out. Here is a look at what some people say about their performance:
I actually checked their response time on their servers. To my surprise Cirtex Hosting has slow servers. I say slow servers because they responded in 150.88 ms. Why is this slow? Whenever I test servers I like to use isitdownrightnow.com. Basically, whatever URL you put in it tells you the response time of their servers. Fast servers will respond in 20 ms or lower. Average servers will respond in 21-50 ms. Slow servers will respond in 51 ms or more. As you can clearly see Cirtex Hosting responded in triple what I consider slow!
Cirtex Hosting Customer Service
Citrex provides customer support through online chat and the email system. While online chat is similar to being on the phone with a customer support representative, there seems to be something wrong with how Citrex does online chat. I did not like to believe it at first but when a Citrx client showed me how it worked, I was simply speechless. For one, there is no live chat feature on the homepage. Instead you have to go to the contact page and start a live chat that way. But, the sad thing is their customer support is outsourced. Many people have reported that they do respond quickly, but are not very helpful at all. It’s one thing to have customer support, but with Cirtex Hosting your not really getting much assistance to any problems or issues you might have. Citrex Hosting Summary
Cirtex Hosting is a company I would avoid. They have way to many issues and it’s hard to find someone that actually has something nice to say about their company. They have appealing prices, but once your site has problems your pretty much on your own. It makes no since to pay a higher price in advance if your not getting more value for your money. There customer support is absolutely terrible. Webmasters are ripping this hosting company to shreds.
