Colorteck has been in the industry of web hosting since 2003 and has since then develop a huge client base. They’re currently headquartered in Round Rock, Texas. The company’s boasting of their cheap offers and services when it comes to web hosting. They’re saying that they’re emphasizing in providing quality hosting solutions to small and medium sized businesses which can allow clients to build an ecommerce website. But, what are webmasters saying about their experience working with them?
The company’s always aiming to become the best in the hosting industry, so they invest in good equipment and tools. Colorteck always aim to stay ahead of the competition, so they’re always proud to tell the public of their top-notch network, excellent customer service, updated methods, and more. They offers website design, hosting, domain name registration services, and many other useful tools. However, the reputation of this company is sliding downhill quickly. When I review a web hosting company I like to review their features, uptime, performance, customer service, and lastly cost. I have developed a rating system at the top of this ColorTeck review which shows exactly how I rate them on all these key issues. This is yet another company I do not recommend to my readers. Find out why in this full ColorTeck review.
ColorTeck Features
They have everything you need for a website. They promise a lot so I was pretty pumped about checking them out. ColorTeck offers 2 kinds of plans. These plans are shared and reseller, and you even get a 2 months free if you sign up for a year. Now lets take a look at their plans and features.
Shared Plans
ColorTeck Network offers 2 different shared hosting plans. The first plan is called the Treck Plan which is $6.95/month or $69.50 for a year. Not as cheap as SiteGround or MochaHost, but still pretty decent in terms of price. This plan will allow you to use 15 GB of space and 250 GB of bandwidth per month. The second one is the webmaster plan which is $9.95/month or $99.50 a year. This plan will allow you 25 GB of disk space and 350 GB of bandwidth per month. These are actually great numbers for bandwidth per month as a lot of other providers will allow you 200-250 GB per month (even though they might state that they are unlimited). You shouldn’t have any problem with 300 unique visitors a month.
Reseller Plans
For reseller plans ColorTeck offers 3 reseller plans. These plans will include cPanel and everything you need to setup multiple accounts for your reseller account. This means that you can sign up for their reseller plan and allocate your server to as many clients as you want. Here are the prices:
- New Reseller – $24.95/month (or $249.50/year).
- Pro Reseller – $34.95/month (or $349.50/year).
- Deluxe Reseller – $44.95/month (or $449.50/year).
SSL
For those that are running an ecommerce site ColorTeck Network makes it easy to buy a secured SSL which is verified by GeoTrust. The prices for these SSL’s are on a yearly rate. The prices are as follows:
- GeoTrust Quick SSL – $89.99.
- GeoTrust Quick SSL Premium – $129.00.
- GeoTrust True Business ID – $190.00.
Also, you can purchase a dedicated IP for $3.00.
ColorTeck Performance & Uptime
Uptime
ColorTeck is nothing special for performance. They promise that your website will be up 99.9% of the time. This is hit or miss with a lot of webmasters. Meaning, your site could be up for a pretty close to 99.9% of the time or it could be down frequently. I guess it’s safe to say its either all good or all bad. Customers have moaned about downtime a lot over the years. For instance, some clients have stated their website was down for 1 1/2 days. That is way to long. You might be wondering if this was just one freak occurrence, but sadly it’s not. A lot of other webmasters are reporting issues of extended downtime. Here is a screenshot from one of their clients regarding downtime:
Performance
For performance with ColorTeck is just like uptime. It’s either running smoothly and your servers are responding quickly or it’s running slow. I have tested their speed with load impact and found these results:
ColorTeck Customer Service
So I guess the unreliable downtime and performance wouldn’t be an issue if you could always call someone. Well, truth be told their customer support is lacking. There is bad customer support and then there is ColorTeck (much like 1&1 and WebHost4Life. When I was doing some research to review their customer support I clicked on the live chat button because I had some questions I wanted to ask them. I got this message:
So, basically as the screenshot above shows, when you click live chat they want you to fill out a support ticket? I thought it said live 24/7 help? Guess not! So, I guess that means if there is a problem I need to wait for them to respond to my ticket. That isn’t going to happen; I will just go with a web hosting company that actually abides by their 24/7 live chat promise. Here is a screenshot from one of their clients showing how bad their customer support is:
ColorTeck Summary
Colorteck is definitely one company I would avoid hosting with. Their web hosting looks attractive at a glance, but once you sign up for them, you will wish you hadn’t. The company is starting to lose many subscribers who’ve been fed up with their unreliable services and non existent customer support. I would like to hear from ColorTeck’s management team to let us know what they are doing to better their service. If you have any experience working with ColorTeck Network please leave your comments up above. If you found this review helpful please share it on Facebook, Twitter, or Google +1 to help spread the word about them.
Go for a reliable company like GreenGeeks or Inmotion if you’re looking for a web hosting company that will actually abide by there 24/7 help. I personally do business with both of these companies and have been using them for nearly 7 years now.
