Hosting24 Review – Some Mixed Feedback Find Out Why

Hosting24 was started in 2004.  They are part of the Hostinger group.  Which is an ICANN accredited registrar.  Over the years they have been gaining a lot market share.  Their servers are located in the United States (Asheville, NC) and United Kingdom (IceColo).

However, when I review a web hosting company I like to look at their features, uptime, performance, customer support.  Then I will round out the Hosting24 review by writing a summary either recommending them or pointing you elsewhere.  So, lets dive into Hosting24 and see what they have to offer.

Hosting24 Features

Shared Plans

Hosting24 offers shared plans that provide thousands of beautiful templates and a free domain. There are two basic packages the silver which cost $3.99 a month and the Gold package for $6.99.  These plans are in the same price range as SiteGround and Doteasy. Both of these packages include unlimited bandwidth, unlimited disk space and 99.9% Uptime. Some of the other great features of these plans include Website Development Tools such as Zyro SiteBuilder and Softaculous installer. There are some nice email features with these plans such as unlimited email accounts, IMAP, auto responders and spamassassin protection. With the Gold package there are some notable extras such as custom nameservers and add-on domains.

Reseller Plans

With Reseller Plans users will have packages that help them start your own web hosting business. These plans come with two choices the Starter plan for $12.99 a month and the Business Plan for $22.99 a month (the prices are right on par with GreenGeeks and MochaHost). The business plan you get unlimited disk space and bandwidth while the starter package provides only 50GB of Disk Space and 500GB of bandwidth. Great features that both plans have include website development tools such as Zyro SiteBuilder and WordPress ready and unlimited cPanel Accounts. There is a long list of cPanel features which include add-on domains and multiple FTP accounts.

VPS Plans

VPS servers promise to provide power and resources to fit all your needs. These plans are fast and secure, provide monitoring and backup and extensive statistics. They provide several packages which range in price from $10.78 a month $86.24 a month. As you move up in plans you receive an additional 1000GB in bandwidth and 10,000MB of disk space. With Hosting 24’s statistics are shown to you in a simple easy to read format. The plan allows you to observe your RAM and Bandwidth along with packet flow, and much more. All of this can be done straight from your members panel.

Domain Names

With Hosting24 you can purchase domain names too.  Can search, check, and register your domain names.  Also can purchase premium domain names.  Can purchase any domain including .com,.net, .org and many more.  .com domains on Hosting24 cost $14.88.  You do get a free domain name with many of the hosting plans you sign up for.  But the next year when you renew it is going to cost $14.88.  This is the same price as GoDaddy. I still heavily favor buying domain names with NameCheap.

Overall, it looks like Hosting24 has decent prices for hosting and domain names.  However, as my Hosting24 review will show I do have some issues with their service.  Now, comes the time when I will evaluate their performance, uptime, and customer support.

Hosting24 Performance & Uptime

Performance

Performance is one feature I always like to look over when reviewing different hosting companies.  The performance of your website depends on the hardware that the company is using.  With Hosting24 I logged onto their live chat, and asked them if they use SSD hard drives.  I asked Edgar G. if they use SSD hard drives.  He told me they do but it’s for system partitions.  So, the answer is no; there clients website are not hosted on SSD hard drives.  Therefore, I am lowing my ranking for Hosting24 for performance.  I would really like to see Hosting24 offer their clients SSD hard drives in the future.

HostingFacts.com has rated Hosting24.com very slow with speed test.  There response time was 1428ms and several webmasters on whoishostingthis.com have complained about performance issues, too.

Uptime

Hosting24 monitors their servers 24/7 by their administrators to help ensure the stability for all of their clients. As, I will explain they do have a system in place to show you the status of their servers at anytime you wish to check on them (see this place on Hosting24’s website).

Server Tracking

Service Tracker allows you to check uptimes of various servers in real time. These plans have great stability and performance. Service Tracker servers use updated hardware and the latest software. They use progressive arrays and cloud backup storage to make sure that your information is safe and secure. These plans also provide live support with agents working 24/7. With Server Tracking you can check the status of a long list of servers. Find the status uptime and understand if their is a block by a firewall.

However, over the years other webmasters have complained about downtime.  HostingFacts.com rated them very poorly for uptime and several webmasters at WhoIsHostingThis.com have complained about spotty uptime.  While Hosting24 does have a 99.9% uptime policy it has been reported that you could face some problems with uptime when you host with them.

Hosting24 Customer Support

Their staff members participate on a lot of the popular forums like WebHostingTalk, FreeWebHostingTalk, and DigitalPoint.  They make it known to their clients on their about us page that you can always contact their CEO if you have any questions or concerns.  They aim to provide you with the exceptional support that you need in this fast paced industry.

Hosting24 does have a community forum and that does address many of the problems that you might have with them.  You can always log on to their site and chat with them on live chat and start a support ticket.

Over the years other webmasters have grown concerned about their customer support at times.  Sometimes they are very hard to get ahold of.  At other times they are very easy to get in contact with.  There is no number that you can call though if you need immediate help, though.

Hosting24 Summary

Overall, I am not stating that Hosting24 is a terrible hosting company, but I don’t like a number of things about them.  First, there is no telephone number to call and some webmasters have stated that they are hard to get ahold of at times.  Next, uptime could be an issue with them.  Yes, they do have a page on their website that is dedicated to showing you the status of all their servers, but they have had some issues with uptime in the past.

Customer support is kind of grey area; some webmasters think they do a wonderful job, while other webmasters have real problems with them.  Lastly, Hosting24 does not use SSD hard drives which could cause your website to load slower than other host.  Furthermore, I really can’t recommend Hosting24 at this time.
