Lunarpages
started its web hosting business in 1998. Over their years of business they have received a lot of feedback from their clients. But, is it good or bad? Their main aim is to provide excellent service and support to every individual or business that avails their services, no matter how big or small. The company is one of the largest web hosting service providers in the world. Currently they have more than one hundred fifty thousand clients and its offices are located in multiple areas. In Nevada and California, they provide three datacenters. To ensure that client’s site is running perfectly all the time, they have employed more than 100 people. Lunarpages is a very big company but they are personally attached to their customers and provide them the best possible services. The customers will feel valuable because they get personal attention whenever they need it.
When I review a web hosting company I am looking at a number of things. What features and services do they offer? What is their uptime and performance like? How knowledgeable and responsive is their customer service? And, last but not least how does their prices compare to other competing web hosting providers. I have developed a rating system at the top of this page which shows how I rate them on all of these key areas.
Lunarpages Features
Lunarpages offers a wide range of features like web hosting, WordPress hosting, domain and email hosting, 123 website builder, shared servers, virtual private servers, dedicated servers, reseller hosting, and cloud hosting. There are different plans that offer different services, so you can choose a plan which contains just about any type of web hosting you desire.
Shared Plans
They currently have 3 different shared plans you can choose from. The prices for their shared plans are as follows:
- Starter – $3.95/month.
- Basic Linux – $4.95/month.
- Basic Windows – $9.95/month.
The cheapest plan is the “starter plan” which includes Dreamweaver compatibility, Microsoft Front Page extensions, unlimited sub domains, 1 FTP account, parked domains, online user statistics, Perl support, Ruby on rails, customizable error pages, Python support, customer account page, and 24×7 email support. One plan up will give you all the starter plan services along with online control panels, desktop backup, money back guarantee, Facebook ads, and Google Adwords credit. Customers can also use the MySql database (25 limited for starter packages).
VPS Plans
Lunarpages does offer VPS plans but they are called “Scalable Cloud Storage” on their website. There VPS plans work a little different that other web hosting companies because they use a cloud on each of their plans. For instance, with your beginner VPS plan your going to receive 2 CPU cores, memory (1 GB included), storage (50 GB included),bandwidth (1000 GB per month), and 1 IP address included for $72.95/month. You can add in more CPU cores, storage, RAM, etc. for more money. Essentially, you can build your VPS however you see fit.
Dedicated Plans
Lunarpages offers ton of different dedicated plans for either Linux or Windows. The prices are as follows:
Linux
- Plan 1 – $165.00/month.
- Plan 2 – $215.00/month.
- Plan 3 – $245.00/month.
- Plan 4 – $465.00/month.
- Plan 5 – $880.00/month.
Windows
- Plan 1 – $190.00/month.
- Plan 2 – $240.00/month.
- Plan 3 – $270.00/month.
- Plan 4 – $515.00/month.
- Plan 5 – $930.00/month.
These both come fully managed and unmanaged. You can always purchase more ram, storage, bandwidth, etc. to meet your needs like like their VPS plans.
SEO/SEM & Extra Services
Users can include SEM service i.e. search engine marketing packages with their hosting plans. In this way, they will get access to social media, email, PR marketing and pay-per-click advertising options, which will also help them to draw traffic to their website. If you’re needing professional website design Lunarpages offers that too. There is really nothing that Lunarpages doesn’t offer for your web hosting needs.

Uptime
Expect top notch uptime with Lunarpages
Lunarpages provides 99.9% system uptime. Power generators and tape-backups are also there, so you can always trust your servers are always going to be up. From my experience uptime isn’t an issue at all with them. You can trust that your site is going to be up as close to 100% of the time as possible. Performance
Lunarpages provides you with root access and you can manually reset your servers at anytime you feel the need (on VPS/dedicated servers).The performance is very good because any flaw or error is handled immediately so that your business and website keeps running smoothly. Any issue which comes out is sorted very quickly so that within no time your business is back on track. Because their hosting is built on the cloud, performance isn’t a issue. It also provides customers with highest controls and technological settings to ensure that they have the right kind of website for attracting the right kind of visitors.
Lunarpages Customer Support
Lunarpages has excellent customer service. The packages for business accounts come equipped with all regular hosting plans in addition to tighter security features as well as in-built help desk software. Whenever I login on “live help” I like how they ask for your name and email in case they get disconnected. I have never had a problem being disconnected and their techs are fast at answering any questions or concerns you might have.
A proprietary web application is “TremenDesk” which helps users to manage and create support tickets. It also provides customers with solutions who don’t need an issue resolved right away. Typically, they will get back with you within 4 hours. Another option is Quicksite. This service comes in handy, especially for those people who have less time and more work to focus on. I have spoken with Lunarpages many times mostly on the phone and they are very helpful and certainly know their stuff.
Lunarpages Summary
Lunarpages even offers cloud hosting which a lot of other companies don’t offer. Scalability seems to be Lunarpages best asset along with customer service. You can always trust that your servers are going to be up 99% of the time, and performance is certainly not an issue with Lunarpages.
