Name: MidPhase
Plans: Shared, VPS, Managed WordPress and Dedicated.
Website: www.midphase.com
Summary: I do not recommend MidPhase. They are higher priced than other host and you have to pay extra for extra features that come standard with another host. They have some areas that need to be improved upon before I can recommend them. These MidPhase reviews show what other webmasters are saying about them.

MidPhase is a web hosting company that was started in 2003. MidPhase certainly isn’t a newbie when it comes to the web hosting industry. They have a client-base which is over 120,000 strong and employs 200+ employees. MidPhase is owned by UK2 Group which owns about 7 other web hosting companies like WestHost. They have four different location in Salt Lake City, Utah, London, United Kingdom, Cochin, India, and Lviv, Ukraine.
When I review a web hosting company I am looking for a number of different things. I want to know the features, price tag, uptime, performance, customer support, and then I write up a summary of Midphase. I will either recommend them or point you elsewhere.
MidPhase Features
MidPhase is a feature rich hosting provider. No matter the size of website or websites your needing MidPhase should be able to handle anything you’re looking to develop. They offer a lot of plans to their customers which include shared plans, WordPress plans, VPS, cloud, and dedicated servers. Now let’s take a look at these plans so we can see all the features that MidPhase offers.
Shared Plans
MidPhase offers 3 different plans for those that are looking for a shared plan. The first plan is the “Personal” plan. This is a plan that is for webmasters that just have one single website. The bandwidth is unlimited, you get a free domain name and unlimited emails. It does cost about $6 a month depending on how you set up your billing.
The next plan is the “Professional” plan. This comes with unlimited bandwidth, web space, etc. You also get a free domain and unlimited emails too. You can host 3 websites and 3 databases with this plan, 5 subdomains, and you can purchase a dedicated IP ($2/month), SSL ($29.99/year), or Stats2 Web Analytics ($2/month). The price is around $8 a month.
Lastly, the “Business” plan is their third option. This comes with unlimited bandwidth and storage. You also get a free domain name but can host unlimited websites with this plan. You do get a free dedicated IP, SSL, and Stats2 Web Analytics. The price tag for this is around $13 a month.
You can pay for all of these plans on a 1 or 3 month plan. If you want to pay yearly you can pay yearly, as well. You can pay 1,2, or 3 years.
I have noticed the words unlimited bandwidth on their website which I am not really a fan of. There are always limits. I actually wrote an article on this.
WordPress Plans
Like a lot of other hosting companies MidPhase does offer WordPress hosting. They offer two different plans. The first one is the “Primary” plan. It can support 1 domain, 10 GB of SSD disk space, 25,000 monthly visits, 25 email accounts, backups, CloudFlare, automatic malware removal, and 50 premium themes. It cost around $5/month.
The next plan is the “Pro” plan. This plan is $6.95/month. It supports 1 domain name, 20 GB of SSD space, 100,000 unique monthly visitors, 50 email accounts, and the same extras like backups, CloudFlare, automatic malware removal, and 50 premium themes.
VPS Plans
MidPhase does offer a number of different VPS plans. These come with SSD storage which is standard. I really do feel that SSD hosting is the future because it’s so much more efficient and the speed is much faster. I am unable to give you a price on them because you have to purchase the plan and go through the process before they show you the price.
However, I can tell you that cPanel is going to cost you an extra $10/month. You also have the option to pick between Linux and Windows, which is a nice option.
Cloud Plans
MidPhase does offer a number of different clouds hosting plans to choose from. There are 4 different plans which do range from $50-100 per month. These do come with free cPanel which is a nice feature.
Dedicated Plans
Midphase does offer 6 different dedicated plans. The prices do range from $78 to $367 a month. You can purchase a number of different upgrades like cPanel for $25/month, more SATA space for $10-30/month, more SSD storage for $15-70/month, or SAS storage for $25-50/month. Optionally, you can add in more RAM for $28-448/month.
At a glance MidPhase does look cheap for dedicated plans, but once you add in cPanel and something like SSD which comes standard on a lot of other host the bill is quite pricy.
Security
MidPhase does offer a service where you can pay $14.99 per month for a service called SiteLock. This service will help button up any holes in security on your server. It acts as a service that alerts you when malware has been injected on your website. If ever your server has a virus on it SiteLock will then fix the problem without you having to do anything. I have written an article reviewing SiteLock’s services here.
Midphase Uptime & Performance
Uptime
Midphase does have a 99.9% uptime guarantee. They strive to make sure your server is up at all hours of the day. However, MidPhase did state that they have made an effort to keep their client’s websites up all hours of the day. I couldn’t locate a page where you can check the actual statistics, but I was able to find a status update page which will show your servers status.
It doesn’t look like a lot of webmasters are constantly complaining about the uptime with MidPhase. In fact, they do look pretty solid from an uptime standpoint.
Performance
I do like how MidPhase does offer SSD Hosting. However, it’s not standard on their dedicated plans. Instead, you have to pay extra for it which makes it more expensive than another host. Their VPS plans are all SSD which is a pro in my book. However, I am unsure about shared hosting? I don’t know if they come with SSD or not?
From the research, I have done it doesn’t look like MidPhase has a ton of complaints about their performance. Instead, they do seem to be pretty good. Since they don’t offer SSD on dedicated plans I am going to have to give them a slight tick and rate performance 3 out of 5.
Midphase Customer Support
MidPhase does have 24/7 customer support. They do have locally based customer support, unlike other companies like 1and1. There are a number of different ways you can get in contact with them. You can contact them through the telephone, live chat, and support ticket. Whenever I contacted MidPhase through live chat it did take about 3 minutes to connect with an agent. It did take about 2-3 minutes between responses to get the answers to my questions, though. Support tickets generally take 5-12 hours to get a reply. The responses from customer support are of good quality, though. Meaning they don’t just give you some generic response.
Overall, from the research I have done on MidPhase, there are a couple complaints on their customer support. I would like to see faster response times to live chat and support tickets like MDDHosting, but they are not horrible. Therefore, I am rating their customer support 3.5 out of 5.
MidPhase Reviews Summary
Overall, do I recommend MidPhase? No, but this doesn’t mean they are a bad company for your hosting needs. A lot of features that are offered standard with another host you have to pay extra with MidPhase. Their prices are a little on the higher end, and their support does answer questions quickly, but it looks like they could improve on their response time.
If you’re looking for a better host I would recommend InMotion Hosting or SiteGround because they beat MidPhase on price, come with more features, and I really feel the support is better with both of those companies.
If you have any experience working with MidPhase I would like you to leave some feedback in the user review section of this post. Thanks for reading my full MidPhase review.
