Servage is dubbed as one of the best hosting companies founded in 1998 and has since become a household name. I’d like to take this opportunity to give you a fresh insight of whether the services Servage offers is the right choice. According to Servage, they’re well-established and independent. They said that they’re also experienced in hosting services. So, I will put their technical knowledge to a tough test today. As you can see, I jump on live chat with them in this article. My hopes for them are high!
Today, they host about 200,000 sites and say that they can host your website due to their large server space. The company name is derived from two words “serve” and “age.” I found out that their main agenda is to serve their clients while also keeping themselves with updated technology. Servage is said to be the next big thing in website hosting because it’s said to be advanced technically compared to other hosting websites such as BlueHost. Servage is boasting about its clustered platforms which changed the world of hosting. In this Servage review, you’re going to find out why I don’t recommend them.
Servage Features
Servage or Servage one offers just one shared hosting plan. In the past, this would run you $7 a month. But, now Servage is offering their shared plan for only $2.95/month. There might be a little voice in your head saying “Yeah buddy!” With this plan, they offer you unlimited disk space, bandwidth, unlimited email accounts, and free domains or domain transfers. Ok, so what I did was I jumped on the live chat with Servage to ask them about their unlimited disk space and bandwidth (see this article on unlimited bandwidth offers). Here is a screenshot of our conversation:
So, I guess it’s safe to say you can’t have a 2 TB site and use 5 TB per month. But, they told me they would suggest a VPS for that. Again, no actual limits to how much you can use on their shared server. I know if I called InMotion or WebHostingHub they would tell me the actual limit. So, I guess it safe to say no one knows what you can use for $2.95/month? It’s probably the 8th wonder of the world. Chances are whenever you exceed the limit they will suspend your account.
I had another question about their control panel which is later in this review. And I figured I would try my luck with asking how much bandwidth I could get on that shared plan. This time I asked if I could use 10 GB of space and 10 GB of monthly bandwidth.
They told me that was fine. That is funny! I guess if someone wants to try it out and let us know be my guest. But, I have been down that road before, and I know for a fact that your account will get suspended.
VPS Plan
So, now let’s take a look at their VPS plan they offer. For only $19.95/month you can get a VPS server. Yes, this is very cheap! They state on their website that you get 1 CPU, 6000 RAM, 150GB of disk space, and 5 TB of monthly bandwidth. You will also have full root access, though. There is not a lot of info on what you’re getting at $19.95.
I couldn’t find out which control panel they use so I jumped right back on live chat to ask. They told me they use a customized control panel. So I guess it’s their own in-house control panel. If anyone has any experience with it let us know how it works?
Servage Performance
When it comes to performance, Servage could start great, but it could slowly deteriorate. In fact, if there is one thing you can most certainly count on it site hacks and for your servers to run buggy. There have even been clients that have reported they have lost all of their data. I know this sounds a little odd to me, but they lost an entire clients site, and for compensation, they offer him a free month of hosting.
There have even been speculations that they overload their servers which could be the cause of them running buggy. Lots of webmasters had reported these problems time and time again before they finally called it quits with Servage. I guess it’s safe to say that you certainly get what you pay for; a cheap hosting service with lots of headaches and problems down the road.
Servage Customer Service
Above in my review on Servage, you got a taste of their customer support. I just guess that their customer support is overseas or outsourced to India or somewhere. I have some questions and concerns with Servage if they can’t tell you the amount of disk space or bandwidth you can use with them.
They do have a live chat and a support ticket you can reach them at. However, I’m not so sure on how helpful Servage are going to be. For me, they weren’t useful at all. Maybe others can give us more information on them?
Just from doing some research on their customer support I have found other hosting review sites are not ranting and raving about their customer service.
Servage Review Summary
Servage isn’t the best choice for your website hosting because there are many issues that they’ve got to fix first in their system. A lot of users say that their sites get hacked all the time. The risk just doesn’t seem to be there for me, and I wouldn’t recommend you waste your time with them.
Overall, Servage seems to get negative feedback from webmasters. I would recommend InMotion or WebHostingHub if you are looking for a good hosting company. I have done business with both of those hosts for years.
