Traffic Planet Hosting is a WordPress managed hosting service that was started by it’s co-founder Terry Kyle who is an internet marketer. If you use WordPress websites only Traffic Planet Hosting will peek your interest because of the number of WordPress plans they offer. Just to give you an idea of other managed WordPress host I have reviewed Page.ly and WP Engine.
This is a little known host that is really starting to gain more popularity through 2014 to the present day 2016. In this full Traffic Planet Hosting review I am going to take a look at their features, performance, uptime, and then their customer support. Once, I have gone through all those different areas I like to write a summary which will summarize everything about Traffic Planet Hosting. So, let’s get started and see what all they have to offer.
Traffic Planet Hosting Features
Traffic Planet Hosting does come with a number of unique features which is unique to their hosting platform. One feature that I love is free SSL’s for the life of your account. This can be a $69.99 value per year. If you stay with them for 5 years that would be a savings of $349.95. They do use their own in-house control panel and offer 3 different managed WordPress plans.
WordPress Plans Only
Traffic Planet Hosting offers 3 different plans. The details for the plans they offer are listed down below:
- Business. This plan is going to cost $24.99/month. It supports up to 5 websites, 5 free website migrations, 10 GB of SSD storage, 50 GB of bandwidth, PHP 7.0, 5.6, 5.4, and 5.3, daily backups, email accounts, 1 Click WordPress installer, daily malware scan, free SSL for life, and comes with a 30-day money back guarantee.
- Professional. This plan is going to cost $49.99/month. It supports up to 15 websites, 15 free website migrations, 20 GB of SSD storage, 100 GB of bandwidth, PHP 7.0, 5.6, 5.4, and 5.3, daily backups, email accounts, 1 Click WordPress installer, daily malware scan, free SSL for life, and comes with a 30-day money back guarantee.
- Elite. This plan is going to cost $99.99/month. It supports up to 35 websites, 35 free website migrations, 40 GB of SSD storage, unlimited GB of bandwidth, PHP 7.0, 5.6, 5.4, and 5.3, daily backups, email accounts, 1 Click WordPress installer, daily malware scan, free SSL for life, and comes with a 30-day money back guarantee.
Traffic Planet Hosting does state right on their website that you might want to consider using a CDN (content delivery network) for websites that get a substantial amount of traffic. Unlike a lot of other Managed WordPress host you are not charged extra for going over their bandwidth limit. Traffic Planet Hosting does not to that, instead you will receive a warning and be asked to move to a higher level plan.
Also, a lot of managed WordPress companies will restrict certain plugins on their servers. They do this because they have known issues with certain plugins that don’t play nice with them. Traffic Planet Hosting does not do that. There are no restrictions on your WordPress plugins.
Traffic Planet Hosting does keep backups of your website for 2 weeks. You don’t have to pay them or anything like other companies that are partnered with SiteLock. Instead you just contact their support staff and they do it for you.
Like a lot of managed WordPress hosting companies they don’t use cPanel. Instead, they have their own in-house control panel. Many webmasters have actually stated that it’s a lot less clustered than cPanel. You can easily:
- View your bandwidth and disk space usage.
- Install the WordPress CMS on your domain names.
- Manage your databases.
- Create email and FTP accounts.
One really nice feature I have found about Traffic Planet Hosting is you get a SSL Certificate for free for life with them. Other companies like AwardSpace, GlowHost, and JustHost will give you one for free for a year, but then you need to pay a yearly fee for it. I did find an article on their website which shows you how you can install a SSL Certificate in under 10 seconds. This really takes the extra added back and forth work between you and your host to get your SSL installed.
The domain name pricing is pretty transparent with them. Meaning you’re not going to pay a low introductory price and then later find out how much it’s going to cost you on your next billing cycle. You can purchase domain names with Traffic Planet Hosting, too. For .com domain names it cost $10.99/year, .net is $11.99/year, .org is $13.99/year. They do offer a lot of other domain extensions, too.
I always buy my domain names with NameCheap, though. They seem to be the cheapest and are very easy to work with.
Now that we have looked at all the features Traffic Planet Hosting offers lets take a look at their performance, uptime, and then their customer support.
Traffic Planet Performance & Uptime
A lot of times webmasters overlook performance when signing up with a host. So, how good is Traffic Planet Hosting’s performance? Performance is very solid with Traffic Planet Hosting. I can’t stress just how solid they actually are! For instance this post written by Adam Connell on Traffic Planet Hosting shows how he has ran test through LoadImpact.com and found that most of the websites that are hosted on Traffic Planet Hosting’s servers actually load in under 1 second.
A lot of other webmasters are also stating that Traffic Planet Hosting’s performance is incredible. I do a lot of SEO work on sites and can’t stress the power of having a quick loading website if you want to be on the first page of Google. Therefore, I can confidently tell you that performance is certainly a strong point.
Uptime or rather downtime is a thing that will constantly drive webmasters up the wall. I have used a lot of host over the years like MochaHost, HostNine, and WebHost4Life, that had issues with uptime. So, your probably wanting to know how good is Traffic Planet Hosting’s uptime?
Traffic Planet Hosting does have a 99.95% uptime guarantee. I contacted them to see if they had a page on their site that shows their uptime stats. They don’t have a page but they do have plans to put one up shortly. They didn’t give me any kind of ETA on when it would be up though.
I couldn’t find any kind of uptime policy either that states what happens if your uptime dips below the 99.95% threshold. I wish Traffic Planet Hosting would make this more clear to their users, though.
However, webmasters seem to be praising their uptime. Mostly everything you read online about their uptime is positive. I can state that you probably shouldn’t have a problem with downtime, but I really don’t know what happens if you do have any downtime.
Traffic Planet Hosting’s Customer Support
Anytime you’re working on a website at some point in time you’re going to need to reach out to a person to help resolve any issues you might be having. You need to be able to rely on support to quickly resolve your issues. So, how good is Traffic Planet Hosting’s customer support? There are a couple of different ways you can get ahold of them.
Live chat is my preferred way to get ahold of an agent. A lot of companies offer live chat support but it’s not always available like GoDaddy and PowWeb. Also, with Hostgator you can expect to wait on live chat for 5-25 minutes during peek hours. Traffic Planet Hosting does offer live chat support 24/7.
It takes under a minute to get in contact with Traffic Planet Hosting each time you connect. Usually, I have found it to be instant. They take the time to troubleshoot any issues you might be having.
Optionally, you can contact customer support by using their ticketing system. You simply click on “support” on the top of their website and submit your ticket request. Tickets are usually answered in under 1 hour. From my experience both of my ticket request where answered in under 10 minutes, though.
No Telephone Support
Traffic Planet Hosting doesn’t offer any telephone support, though. There is no number you can call if you would rather speak to a person on the phone. Not really a big deal with me and it looks like their live chat and ticketing system work great for them.
Traffic Planet Hosting does have a knowledge-base which does have a lot of useful articles on different problems you might have. They cover everything from WordPress articles, migration, general how-to’s, DNS, security, email, and their hosting panel.
Overall, it looks like other webmaster are praising their customer support. They get a lot of positive feedback from their customers. There have been a few negative comments left about their customer support, but nothing substantial. I can say with 100% confidence that you will be happy with the quality of customer support you receive from Traffic Planet Hosting.
Traffic Planet Summary
So, do I recommend you host your WordPress websites with Traffic Planet Hosting? Yes! Their price tag is fair. They are a little higher than most shared plans, but then again these are not really shared servers, therefore it’s not a fair comparison. Compare to other managed WordPress hosting plans they are right on par with other companies. They don’t charge you for overages like other companies do either.
Performance is Traffic Planet Hosting’s bread and butter, though. There have been a number of webmasters that transferred their site/sites over to them and noticed how much faster they are. Your websites are going to load much faster with them and a lot of big name brands like BlueHost, 1and1, and IX Web Hosting can’t match their performance.
Traffic Planet Hosting does have a 99.95% uptime policy, but their TOS is kind of a grey area. There is nothing in their TOS that states what happens if your uptime falls below that threshold. Also, there is no uptime stats page on their website. But, webmasters are not complaining about their uptime.
Customer support is fantastic. Live chat connects almost instantly and support tickets are answered in under 1 hour (usually about 10 minutes).
Overall, Traffic Planet Hosting is a great option for WordPress managed websites. However, if you are not using the WordPress CMS I would suggest that you check out my InMotion Hosting reviews and RoseHosting reviews. Both of these companies have a very good reputation with thousands of webmasters. I have personally used both of those companies in the past, too.
