Wealthy Affiliate LogoWealthy Affiliate was started in 2005. They have helped over 1 million internet entrepreneurs. They have a very hands-on approach to running an online business.

Many people have heard of Wealthy Affiliate.  It is because of their affiliate marketing training, though.  Not their web hosting. I actually, wrote a review on Wealthy Affiliate online training. But, a lot of people are actually surprised to hear that they are also a hosting provider.

My expert Wealthy Affiliate hosting review is going to look at some things:

  • Features.
  • Performance.
  • Uptime.
  • Customer Support.

Then, I write a summary. My summary gives you an overview of Wealthy Affiliate for hosting. Then, I will either recommend them or suggest another host.

Features

Managed WordPress Plan

Wealthy Affiliate does have one plan. Does cost $49/month. Unless you pay for an entire year of service. Then it’s $19/month. It’s a managed WordPress plan. The following features come with Wealthy Affiliate’s hosting service:

  • Can install 25 sites with one account.
  • Instant DNS setup.
  • Amazon c3.large (faster).
  • 30 GB of storage.
  • 500K visitors per month.
  • Site Builder.
  • Staging environment.
  • Full Redundancy.
  • Enterprise Security.
  • Daily backups.
  • 24/7 access to server admins.
  • Unlimited email accounts.
  • Community access.

Security

Security is one of Wealthy Affiliates strong points. Sites are backed up daily.  Other hosts do this weekly. Therefore you don’t need to install a WordPress backup plugin. Their in-house website control panel, SiteRubix monitors your websites for malware. There is an alert for your databases, viruses and malware, filesystems, and hacking an intrusion. Also, when you log in to your WordPress sites, SiteRubix autogenerates your WordPress password to something completely random.  You don’t really need to install a WordPress security plugin because their enterprise security is top notch.  Plugins like Wordfence are prohibited with Wealthy Affiliate, too.

Domain Names

Wealthy Affiliate does allow you to registered domain names.  A lot of host like GoDaddy allow you to register domains for a cheaper introductory price tag.   Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t offer domains at a discounted price for the first year, though.  .com domain names do cost $15.99/year.  It is on the higher end. NameCheap is my preferred registrar.  Why?  Because their domain names are much cheaper and you get free WhoIsGuard for the first year.

Wealthy Affiliate Performance & Uptime

Performance

How good is Wealthy Affiliate’s performance?

Awesome! Here is why. Wealthy Affiliate’s infrastructure is built with cloud hosting. They utilize Amazon EC2 hosting. It’s the same environment that Expedia, Netflix, Comcast, etc. use. It’s very fast which my performance stats will show down below.

I tested Wealthy Affiliate’s servers from many locations. Here are the results:

Los Angeles 157.21 ms
Dallas 44.05 ms
New York 1.72 ms
Singapore 243.65 ms
London 17.72 ms
Amsterdam 2.62 ms
San Francisco 58.47 ms

After 11 lookups, the average response time of your name server ns29.1and1.com is 75.06 milliseconds.

Also, I did a speed test on them. Results are down below:

Loading Time First Byte Start Render Speed Index
First View 3.127s 0.227s 1.500s 1756
Repeat View 3.162s 1.087s 2.124s 2300

Research is very solid with performance. Sites load in an average of 1.3 seconds. Many happy customers have written positive reviews about the speed of Wealthy Affiliate hosted sites.

Uptime

How good is Wealthy Affiliates uptime?

Wealthy Affiliate does have a 99.9% uptime policy. Sites that are hosted with them shouldn’t be an issue. I have tested them out for 5 months and found them to be very stable. Here is proof of my uptime stats:

Wealthy Affiliate Uptime

Research has been very solid with Wealthy Affiliate’s uptime. I couldn’t find any complaints online where people were upset about their downtime.

Wealthy Affiliates Customer Support

How good is Wealthy Affiliate’s customer support?

From a glance, I thought there could be some issues. Here is why. The host I have worked with in the past have three ways to get in contact with them. Through live chat, the phone, or through a support ticket. Wealthy Affiliate only has one way to get ahold of them. You can contact Wealthy Affiliate through a support message.

These messages are usually responded to in 5 min to 1 hour. Usually, it’s around the 20-minute mark, though. I have contacted them many times.  They are very helpful. They have helped sort out 301 redirects, transfers, plugin issues, etc.

There are lots of tutorials about web hosting, domains, internet marketing, etc. You can even create your own tutorials. You do get $5 for each tutorial that you create. Also, you can ask questions to the community. I have used this many times. Usually, you get a response in 5 minutes or less.

Just like GlowHost, the only way to contact them is through a support ticket. It also works well for them.  Also does work for Wealthy Affiliate, too.

Research shows that their customers are happy. These two reviews stick out http://survivingaftercollege.com/wealthy-affiliate-web-hosting-is-it-the-right-choice-for-you and http://thewiseaffiliate.com/general/wealthy-affiliate-hosting-vs-hostgator-hosting/  The support is more community driven than other hosts, but they do any excellent job at helping you take care of issues.

Wealthy Affiliates Hosting Review Summary

Overall, Wealthy Affiliate has a ton of value. Managed WordPress hosting paired with online marketing training.  Can host more sites than WP Engine. You can host 25 websites with a single account. You can get 500,000 unique visitors a month. Performance is great since it’s built in a cloud hosting environment. Uptime is very solid. Customer support is very quick and knowledgeable. I do recommend Wealthy Affiliate to anyone that is searching for managed WordPress hosting.
