WireNine LogoWireNine is a host that was started in 2004. They have over 10 years working in the IT field, but this company is commonly overlooked by a lot of webmasters because they don’t have a huge client base like HostGator or 1&1. However, if you are new to my reviews you probably already know that it doesn’t matter how big your company is or how many clients you have. What matters is that you have an exceptional service and your clients are happy with you.

So, I remember one day after writing a post on HostGator about the problems they had been having recently. I received a tweet from someone that worked at WireNine to review their company. Typically, whenever I get a request to review a company it’s either a good or bad idea because I will search for everything on the company I can find. Meaning, if they have a lot of dirt on their name it probably wasn’t the best idea to ask to be reviewed by tbwhs.com.

Ok, so when I review a host I am looking for a number of different things; features, uptime, reliability, performance, customer support, and then last but not least the price tag. I will rate all of these areas and then give them a 1-5 star rating. Also, I will give them an overall score. At the end of the evaluation, I will then either recommend them or recommend another web hosting company over them. So, let’s get started and take a look at everything that WireNine has to offer.

WireNine Features

WireNine does offer a number of different plans. They currently offer shared, managed hosting, reseller, VPS, and WordPress hosting. You can even purchase domain names with them if you would like. Now, I am going to go into further details about the kinds of plans and features that you get with your WireNine account.

Shared Plans

Shared plans are pretty straight and forward with WireNine. You don’t have a lot of options to choose from. A lot of other companies will give you 3-5 plans to choose from, but they only give you two different options. Here is a look at their shared plans:

Basic

The basic plan is the cheapest plan you can get with WireNine. It will cost you $9/month or 108/year. With this plan, you can use 10 G.B. of storage. You do get 1 CPU core and 1 G.B. of RAM. They do state that you get unlimited bandwidth, but really you can use 25% of the CPU or 150,000 inodes. You do get a free domain name with this plan and you can host 2 domains with this plan.

Plus

The plus plan has more features than the “Basic” plan. It will cost you $14/month or $168/year. With this plan, you are not limited to any restrictions for storage. Also, you get 1 CPU core and are restricted to 200,000 inodes. You do get a free domain name with this plan and there isn’t a limit to how many domain names you can use with this plan.

The prices for their shared plans are pretty high compared to a lot of other hosting companies.  However, if there is tremendous value in it, webmasters should be willing to spend the extra money.

Managed Plans

WireNine does offer a number of different managed plans. They offer 3 plans. The details are down below:

Start Up Business

  • 25 GB of storage.
  • Unlimited bandwidth & domains.
  • Free domain or transfer.
  • 1 CPU / 2 GB RAM.
  • Malware cleanup, SpamExperts & Advanced Setup.
  • $25/month.

Small Business

  • 50 GB of storage.
  • Unlimited bandwidth & domains.
  • Free domain or transfer.
  • 2 CPU / 3 GB RAM.
  • Malware cleanup, SpamExperts & Advanced Setup & SSL.
  • $45/month.

Large Business

  • 100 GB of storage.
  • Unlimited bandwidth & domains.
  • Free domain or transfer.
  • 4 CPU / 4 GB RAM.
  • Malware cleanup, SpamExperts & Advanced Setup & SSL.
  • $95/month.

Reseller Plans

WireNine does offer 4 different reseller plans. The details are down below:

WireNine Reseller

VPS Plans

As you might have guessed they do offer VPS plans too. They currently offer 5 different plans to choose from. You can choose from managed and unmanaged. The details are down below:

  • $40/month – 1 GB RAM, 1 CPU, 20 GB Storage, 1 TB of Bandwidth, 1 IP.
  • $60/month – 2 GB RAM, 2 CPU, 40 GB Storage, 2 TB of Bandwidth, 1 IP.
  • $80/month – 3 GB RAM, 2 CPU, 60 GB Storage, 3 TB of Bandwidth, 1 IP.
  • $100/month – 4 GB RAM, 3 CPU, 80 GB Storage, 4 TB of Bandwidth, 2 IP.
  • $120/month – 6 GB RAM, 4 CPU, 100 GB Storage, 5 TB of Bandwidth, 2 IP.

WordPress Plans

WireNine does offer a WordPress plan. For those that are looking for a hosting plan that is developed to cater to WordPress users, this might be an excellent option. I should note that it does cost $25/month. A lot of people would be turned off by that monthly fee, but it’s actually a little cheaper than a VPS server.  It’s not just for the “newbie” WordPress user.  In fact, if that is you, you should check out their shared plans.

The features of this plan are:

  • 25 to 100 GB of SSD storage.
  • Email hosting (POP/IMAP/SMTP).
  • Dedicated WordPress support.
  • 1-click installation.
  • Backups (30 days) with R1soft (Idera) Backups.
  • Semi-Dedicated server.
  • XCache & Litespeed cache.

I did jump on live chat with them and asked about the inode limit. They stated that there is no inode limit because you are only limited by storage for this plan.

SSD

All plans use SSD so you can trust that they are going to be fast in terms of performance. A lot of web hosting companies have started going this direction because SSD drives are so much more efficient.  Be sure to check out their performance evaluation to see how quickly their servers load.

Control Panel

If you are new to my reviews you will notice that I am a big fan of cPanel. It’s my preferred control panel. I have been using it for 6+ years and love it. Well, you’re in luck because WireNine does use cPanel. It is free for all their plans excluding their VPS plans. This can save you some extra money because a lot of another host will charge you extra for the licensing fee. For VPS servers you can expect to pay $10/month extra.

Domain Names

You can register domain names with WireNine.com. They don’t offer the biggest variety of domains. For example, GoDaddy will offer you much more in terms of extensions if you’re looking for them. However, the most popular ones WireNine does allow you to purchase from them. They following ones are supported with them:

  • .com – $12/year.
  • .net – $14/year.
  • .ca – $16/year.
  • .co – $29/year.

Money Back Guarantee

One thing I really do like about WireNine is they have a great money back guarantee. A lot of other hosting companies will only give you your money back for 30 to 45 days. Some actually give refunds for 3,7 and 14 days. WireNine will give you your money back for 60 days. This is a better guarantee that a lot of the big web hosting companies won’t even match.

Now that we know all the features, prices, and control panel that WireNine offers lets put their performance, uptime, and customer support to the test. Then at the end of the review I will either recommend them or recommend that you go elsewhere.

WireNine Uptime & Performance

Uptime

As webmasters, we demand that our sites are up as close to 100% as possible.  This means that 99.9% should be our goal; nothing less.  The general feedback in terms of uptime does look great with WireNine.  They don’t have a lot of down time.  In fact, it’s quite rare that your site is ever down with them.  I did check their uptime statistics with uptime.besthostratings.com and wasn’t the least bit surprised that their website hasn’t been down once in 4 years!  What is not to love about that?  Please see the screenshot down below which shows their uptime stats:

Performance

WireNine Response Time

Performance is one aspect of web hosting that a lot of webmasters really don’t realize is important until they make the mistake of using a host like 1&1 which is very slow.  Meaning, that if you use a company that is slow and you have never experienced SSD hosting and something that is truly fast you really don’t know what you’re missing.  Whenever I reviewed WireNine I wanted to check their performance stats.  I went to Isitdownrightnow.com.  Typically, people use this site when they want to check whether a website is down or not.  However, that isn’t what I am using it for.  I want to check the response times of their servers.

WireNine TTFB TestI checked WireNine.com and was shocked that their response time was 153.54 ms.  Typically, I like to see response times that are under 20 ms.  This just gives us an indication of what their performance is like.  However, if you want to get a better understanding of their speed you want to go to bytecheck.com.  This is a cool site that gives us a lot of information on their servers.  What I am looking for here is the TTFB (Time To First Byte).  Typically, you want a number that is 500 milliseconds or below.  You can see that with WireNine.com their TTFB was .167.  This is very fast and puts my mind at ease with the Isitdownrightnow.com test.   To put it in simple terms, WireNine does have very quick servers and the SSD hosting is blazing fast.  If you’re using another hosting company and you migrate over to WireNine the first thing you will notice is how much faster your website loads.

WireNine Customer Support

Customer support is something that every webmaster has to be able to depend on. We live in the technology era and sometimes we just need to talk to an actual person that can help us with our technical problems. WireNine does have a number of ways in which you can contact them. The first is my preferred method which is “live chat”. It’s available 24/7. Second is their ticketing system. This is a quick and easy way to get ahold of them for any problems or issues you are having. Lastly, is telephone support. Sadly, it’s not available 24/7. You can only contact telephone support Monday through Friday from 9am – 9pm.

I have tested out their support through live chat and it was quite good. I waited about 30 seconds to get in contact with an agent and they responded very quickly to my questions. James did a wonderful job at answering my questions on inodes and questions about cPanel licenses. Once you are done talking with live chat they send you an automated email which gives you a password and you can visit their support desk at any time. They were helpful and obviously knew what they were talking about. I kind of wish you could talk to a person on the phone other than business hours, but live chat is available 24/7. I have no problems with their customer support.  Other webmasters are also reporting that customer support is very good, too.

WireNine Reviews Summary

With over 10 years of experience working in the IT field and tons of good feedback around the internet, I am more than happy to recommend WireNine to anyone that is seeking shared, managed hosting, reseller, VPS, and WordPress hosting. They do use cPanel which makes setting up a website a breeze. However, the best thing about them is they use SSD and LiteSpeed integration; so you can expect the best performance with HostNine. If you are looking to get started with WireNine please click here.

My reviews are pretty lengthy, but please check out my “more articles” and “interview” section to see what other customers are saying about WireNine. If you have any experience working with WireNine please feel free to leave a comment and rate them.

WireNine is a little bit more expensive than other web hosting companies, though. If money is very tight you might not be able to afford them. I would recommend you check out my WebHostingHub or InMotion review if you’re on a very tight budget. Thanks for taking the time to read my full WireNine review.
