They decided to rebrand their company name to “Hosting.com” in 2025. Hosting.com claims that your site will run 20X faster with them. They promise their customers 99.9% uptime and offer “guru support” (for developers by developers). They are an entirely green host. They are supporters of Carbonfund.org and have joined the fight to stop global warming in 2007. Their primary datacenter is in Michigan. They also do own data centers in Amsterdam and Singapore. Let’s get started with this Hosting.com review and look at the plans they offer.

Hosting.com Features

Hosting.com does offer lots of plans. They provide shared, VPS, reseller, cloud and dedicated plans. For VPS and dedicated plans, you can either use managed or unmanaged plans depending on your needs. I am going to go over each one of their plans down below now.

Shared Plans

With Hosting, users get a variety of shared plan options. There are three options, Lite, Swift, and Turbo. These plans currently cost $3.92, $4.90 and $9.31 a month. By choosing either the Swift or Turbo packages, users get unlimited websites, databases, storage and transfer. Free SSD is also free with these packages. The Lite plan does only support one website and five databases. All three packages include an anytime money back guarantee.

Like a lot of other companies Hosting.com does use the unlimited sales pitch, which I don’t like. Shared accounts are limited to 600,000 inodes and 35 concurrent HTTP connections.

Unmanaged VPS

Hosting.com offers unmanaged plans that are for your VPS hosting solutions. These plans are great if your site outgrows a shared server, or you need more resources. Users can choose from three available options Entry” for $5.00 a month, Mid starting at $10.00 a month and Top for $15.00 a month. All of these plans include Free SSD hard drives, root access and a 30-day money back guarantee. These plans allow a choice of Linux OS (CentOS, Debian, Fedora, Slackware, or Ubuntu).

I should point out that these prices are great, but they do not include a cPanel license. If you would like to have cPanel installed on your VPS server it’s going to cost you $19.95/month. Therefore, their prices are right on par with GreenGeeks. But, if you don’t want cPanel I can’t think of a better price for a VPS plan for $5-15/month.

Managed VPS

Hosting.com offers three fine-tuned Managed VPS Hosting solutions. Their plans are the Power for $32.99 a month, the Prestige for $46.19 a month and the Pinnacle for $65.99 a month. Users get a minimum of 75 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. All plans include free SSD, Free cPanel control panel and a 30-day money back guarantee.

Optionally, you can purchase Turbo Boost (which helps your website load up to 20X faster, but does cost $14.52/month. Also, you can get Turbo Boost + Turbo Cache (page level caching) for $19.80/month.

VPS plans do come with an inode limit, though. VPS accounts are limited to 1,000,000 inodes. A lot of other host don’t limit inodes on their VPS servers, though. However, 1,000,000 inodes is a fair amount of inodes for a VPS server.

Reseller Plans

The reseller plans by Hosting.com has lots to offer. This collection of plans comes with four options, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The Bronze package costs $13.19 a month; Silver is $18.47 a month, Gold is $24.41 a month, and Platinum is $40.91 a month. Users will get a minimum of 30GB of storage and can opt to pay a little more and receive as much as 200GB of storage for the Platinum package. Other include features for all plans include the following: 40 accounts (minimum), free SSD, Free eNom reseller, and free dedicated IP address.

Except the Bronze package, all plans come with free WHMCS as well.

Security

Sites are prone to hacks from time to time. It’s just the fact of nature when you develop sites. Hosting.com uses HackScan which is a hosting firewall, virus scanning, and security service that monitors your websites 24/7 to help minimize brute-force attacks.

Free Website Migration

Moving sites from one server to another are always a hassle if you have to do it yourself. A lot of the times people are unaware of the price that it will cost to move your site. Hosting.com does do free website migrations which I do like. A lot of other companies will charge you a $149.99 fee in order to move your website to their servers.

Now that we have taken a look at the different plans Hosting.com offers lets take a look at their uptime, performance, and customer support.

Hosting.com Performance & Uptime

Performance

Performance is a very important factor when choosing a web host. I have talked to webmasters over the years that didn’t realize exactly how important this was until they signed up for a web hosting company and was sadly let down by how slowly their website/websites loaded on their servers. So, how good is Hosting.com’s performance?

One really cool thing about Hosting.com is they post their IP address on their website with their three data centers. They encourage you to ping their servers so that you can see how quickly their servers respond. I went to bytecheck.com and ran a test to see how quickly they responded. The IP address I used was 75.98.175.109 Here are the results:

Total Time: .063

Time Connect: .032

Time To First Bye: .063

Speed Download: 1768.00

As you can clearly see Hosting.com does have very fast responding servers. I was really impressed with how quickly their servers respond. This is faster than some CDN (content delivery networks) take to respond.

From the research I have done on Hosting.com it looks like their customers are quite happy with their performance. Websites seem to load quickly and you don’t find of their customers moaning and groaning about how poorly their websites load so your website’s speed shouldn’t be an issue with Hosting.com.

Uptime

Uptime is a critical factor that you can’t ignore when choosing a web host. Let’s face it if your website is always down then you’re missing out on a lot of lost business. There are a number of hosts that state that they have 100% uptime, but really this isn’t a realistic number. Techs have to perform maintenance, but 99.99% is a more realistic number.

You can check their network status page at any time to see if their are any problems or issues with any of their servers. Hosting.com does have an uptime policy and they state that they do not accept downtime, because they understand just how inconvenient that is for you, the customer. I did look through their TOS page and couldn’t find out what happens if your downtime dips below 99.9%. A lot of companies will credit your account if ever you have extended amounts of downtime, or if they don’t live up to their 99.9% uptime guarantee.

Hosting.com Customer Support

Customer support is a critical aspect of running a successful web hosting business. I have stressed this aspect of any web hosting company on tbwhs.com for many years now. How good is Hosting.com’s customer support?

You can contact Hosting.com through live chat, ticket request, or a toll free number. They are available 24/7 to answer any questions you might have. I should point out that their support is U.S. based and they do have an extensive knowledge-base which covers everything from getting started, their customer portal, cPanel, WebHost manager, installing application, hosting products, security, developer corner, add-on services, etc.

Hosting.com Review Summary

Do I recommend Hosting.com? Yes. Their shared hosting plans offer you a great deal when you commit to a three year contract with them. The three year contract price while using the highest coupon code available is only $3.92/month for the Lite plan, $4.90/month for the Swift plan, and $9.31/month for the Turbo plan. Hosting.com has an anytime money back guarantee. If you decide to cancel within the first 30 days you’ll get a full refund for your hosting plan. Anytime after the first 30 days you would get a pro-rated refund for unused service. Hosting.com is well worth the prices they charge for the reliability, speed/performance, and piece of mind you get with their web hosting.

Here we will look at their features and price. Next, I will check their speed. Then, I will look at uptime. Next, their customer support. Lastly, I will write a summary.

InMotion Hosting Features

InMotion Hosting offers lots of plans. They have a ton of features. No matter if you have a big or small site, they can support you. Now, let’s look at the plans InMotion Hosting offers.

Shared Plans

Inmotion Hosting has three shared plans. These are called “Business” plans. Here are more details:

Power. ($9.99/month). Supports six sites. Unlimited bandwidth. Unlimited Space.

Pro ($15.99/month). Supports unlimited sites. Unlimited bandwidth. Unlimited Space.

Shared plans prices are on par with other hosts. I have worked out a deal. I can get you the Launch for $3.99/month. Power plan for $5.99/month. The Pro for $13.99/month. Click here to get that special discount.

Resource Usage

They monitor their servers for high resource usage. I asked Kenneth B. about this on live chat. He told me this.

Those limits are constantly changing in a shared hosting environment. They are not hard set. So, I cannot provide the exact specifics. Currently issues vary between users. Most shared customers that do upgrade do so because they require dedicated resources. They no longer want a shared hosting environment. They want to improve their sites speed and responsiveness.

VPS Plans

InMotion Uptime & Performance

Uptime

Uptime is solid with InMotion. Have a status update page on their site. This shows the status of their servers. Problems can be seen here.

Research shows InMotion has high uptime. Various sites monitored their uptime. HostingFacts.com reported 99.96% uptime. Uptime has been tracked for over 12 months. HostBenchMarker.com has stated their average uptime is 99.96%. BestHostRatings.com has tracked them for 11 years. InMotion averages 99.906 % uptime.

Performance

InMotion does use SSD hard drives. These are 20X faster than standard hard drives. The industry has been moving this way for years. They do let you pick your servers locations. I pointed this out with “Max Speed Zone Enabled.” Their data centers are in the United States. Server locations are on either the west or each coast.

Speed is great. Research shows InMotion’s infrastructure is reliable. They have teamed with lots of ISPs and use peering exchanges to create fast connections. Shivarweb.com shows that TTFB (time to first byte) was .694. They state that InMotion is one of the faster hosts. Hosting facts shows that average loading times were 525ms. They are 37% than other hosts. Other hosting review sites like WhoIsHostingThis.com and WebHostingGeeks.com state that speed is fast.

InMotion Customer Support

There are lots of ways to contact InMotion. 24/7 support always around. Live chat, telephone support, and support tickets are ways to get in touch. Support is in the United States.

InMotion Hosting Review Summary

Do I recommend them? Yes! InMotion Hosting is employee owned, and have an industry leading money-back guarantee. Their prices are fair and lots of features come with their plans. Since its opening in 2001, InMotion Hosting has been a leader in business class web hosting for both small and medium sized businesses. When you compare pricing among other web hosting companies, you’ll find that InMotion Hosting is quite competitive for its shared hosting services especially considering their high level of reliability, speed and performance.

Their management team has over fifteen years of experience in providing an affordable and eco-friendly website host. This web hosting provider uses wind power, utilizing the natural force of nature (as its name suggest). GreenGeeks has proven that they have the ability to replace three times the energy used by their servers with wind power. So if you’re going to do business with them, you’re supporting the environment. Since I do live on earth, I do support good old mother nature.

GreenGeeks Features

With their service, you can choose from shared, VPS, or reseller plans. They also have multiple data center locations you can choose from (Chicago, Montreal, and, Singapore, and Amsterdam). GreenGeeks provides 300% green energy web hosting which means this hosting company advocates the preservation of our environment.

All their packages includes a free domain for the first year when you subscribe to their service. I do want to point out that you need to keep your site hosted with GreenGeeks.com or you will need to pay for your domain name separately.

Shared Plans

GreenGeeks offers shared hosting starting at only $2.95/month. Is one of the cheapest shared plans on the market, but not the cheapest. What I do like about their shared hosting plan is you don’t have to sign a long contract if you don’t want to. A lot of web hosting companies like A2 Hosting, you do need to sign a 12/24/36 month contract. However, with GreenGeeks.com you can select a monthly shared plan and you’re not tied to a yearly contract. Is great for those webmasters that are on a tight budget.

VPS Plans

They offer three different plans for VPS. Depending on which plan you choose the price will be $39.95/month, $59.95/month, or $109.95/month. So, if you’re a webmaster you certainly have a lot of options on what plan you can use. Based on the memory, CPU, RAID-10 storage, transfer, and IP you can choose a plan that will best suit your needs.

Reseller Plan

GreenGeeks offer three different plans to choose from just like VPS plans. The plans that are offered are RH-25 ($19.95/month), RH-50 ($24.95/month), and RH-80 ($34.95/month). I should note that if you need 25-80 cPanel accounts (the number associated with each plan name), you should choose the best plan that suits your needs.

There Is A Limit

Some of the plans offered by GreenGeeks and many other web hosts are “unlimited packages” like unlimited disk space for your storage files needs, an unlimited amount of bandwidth for your site’s visitors. These types of plans also allow for an unlimited amount of domain names and along with this unlimited amount of email accounts on one hosting plan.

Watch out for the words “unlimited” because there is always a limit (relating to bandwidth, disk space, etc.). It is more of a sales pitch than anything. Yes, I am fully aware that it is unrealistic to have an enormous site that gets well over 10,000 unique visitors per day on a regular shared hosting plan. So if you are looking for more than that, you should check out their VPS packages. A high amount of bandwidth being allocated to there shared server wouldn’t be very practical and they would ask that you, please move it.

Control Panel

GreenGeeks provides the easiest to use control panel cPanel (much like A2 Hosting) which includes easy to use script libraries that simplify things with one-click installations. This can make installing platforms like WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal a breeze with the standard control panel (or even migrating your site from another host).

If you are moving your existing website to this green hosting company its staff will provide you support to do the migration for you.

GreenGeeks Uptime and Reliability

GreenGeeks guarantees an uptime of 99.9% which is the most common uptime guarantee for website hosting providers. Uptime is one of the most reliable features you can expect with them. Nothing is worse for a webmaster; that constantly has to deal with downtime issues. Obviously, you don’t want your sites to run slowly. Nothing is more frustrating than going to a website and waiting for it to load for 20 seconds.

GreenGeeks Customer Service

If you ever have any issues with your server you can always call them on there tech support line. Or if you prefer you can talk to them on live chat or fill out a support ticket. They don’t use overseas customer support so you know that your call will answered by someone in North America and not halfway across the globe.

GreenGeeks Hosting Review Summary

For anybody who wants a web hosting provider that has their commitment to mother earth coupled with excellent service and support check out GreenGeeks. Whether you are new to building your website or a veteran in this field you can appreciate the hard work and diligence that this web host provides its clients.

Take advantage of GreenGeeks and a free domain with your hosting. However, if you find they simply won’t work for you I would recommend reading my Inmotion or A2 Hosting review.

TopTenReviews.com

TopTenReviews offers reviews of web hosting services on the internet, much as tbwhs.com offers. Their reviews are easy to navigate, with a quick overview of pros and cons, along with an overall score based on a ten point scale. TopTenReviewws then offers separate scoring on each of the different features being reviewed. In this case we’re looking at what TopTenReviews.com has to say about the hosting service GreenGeeks.

Overall Score

TopTenReviews gives GreenGeeks an overall score of 8.4 out of 10. This is an excellent score and indicative of a good hosting service.

Pros

TopTenReviews likes GreenGeeks because of the eco-friendly setup for powering the servers. They use energy-efficient equipment and wind power to keep everything running. GreenGeeks also gets high marks for customer service, with support provided via telephone email, and live chat.

You’ll find the Ecosite Starter Plan with GreenGeeks and a free domain name. You also get SSH access.

Security with GreenGeeks receives a 9.4 out of 10, backing up websites every day.
TopTenReviews likes the prices that GreenGeeks provides, and notes that new customers often get discounts. They like it for its unlimited database and bandwidth, and for the support available.

Cons

TopTenReviews says that they did encounter some server-side errors such as 500 and 503. Since GreenGeeks allows for streaming audio and video, it can overload the shared servers.
GreenGeeks does limit the number of emails you can send each hour, so if you plan to do bulk emails, this may not work for you. However, for everything else, GreenGeeks is a great host.

Overall, this article does speak very highly of GreenGeeks. They are TopTenReviews.com’s seven rated web hosting company. As mentioned above they do get an 8.4/10.
